Case Study: iGround Control digital magazine
We developed a lightweight and responsive web-based magazine templating system with interactive features and support for multiple languages that helped our client to raise brand awareness and build customer loyalty.
iGround Control is the flagship digital magazine of Netherlands-based Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) that focuses on the real life stories of the machines and their operators on job sites all around the world. It is just one of the many projects that is handled by our client RED in their role as HCME’s go-to marketing and communications agency.
RED took over the producton of iGround Control in 2013 when HCME realised they had to move away from Adobe Flash and find a more modern and mobile-friendly solution. We worked with RED to design and build an HTML framework that provides the efficiency benefits of a modular templating system whilst remaining flexibile enough to allow RED’s design team the freedom to be creative.
iGround Control is read and enjoyed by Hitachi’s customers and machine operators throughout Europe and provides a valuable marketing resource for the principal HCME dealers in several countries. A great part of its success and popularity is down to the fact that each edition of iGround Control is published in as many as a dozen languages. With support for multiple translations being a key requirement of the original brief, we built the framework in such a way that text and presentational content are handled separately. Without the time savings this brings to the process of developing the different language versions, the logistical challeng of sourcing and publishing translations within the available timescales would be a significant challenge.

He has helped us to continually evolve the digital magazine and (most importantly) keep producing issues that the client and their customers are delighted with.
