Case Study: PowerPlus Group custom WordPress theme
We created a website with a custom-designed WordPress theme to help our client present their diverse portfolio of services under a single, cohesive online brand.
The PowerPlus Group offers a range of commercial video production services to their national and international customer base. With his extensive background in Health & Safety, the entrepreneurial approach of managing director Graham Boanas has led to the company offering a wide range of service based on its core skillset. Although this has served the business well, the result was a potpourri of web properties which fragmented the company’s marketing efforts and made it difficult to cross-sell its services.
We worked with PowerPlus to consolidate the key elements of content from across their existing sites. Together we developed a site plan that organised content into a meaningful structure, placing their key content within easy reach of visitors. We used a combination of photography sourced from PowerPlus’s archive and library stock to give the site visual impact. Design elements provided by the client’s in-house design team embellished the layout.
Post-launch we worked with the client’s marketing team to implement Google Analytics for the monitoring and analysis of traffic to the site. Using Google Tag Manager provided visibility of specific visitor actions such as clicks on telephone and email links, and the quantity and duration of video views.
We also spent some time carrying out technical optimisation of the site. When redeveloping any website or changing a site’s URL structure it is all too easy to inadvertently destroy its search engine rankings. This can be prevented by correctly redirecting the URLs of old, high value pages to their replacements on the new site, thus preserving any search engine equity. This also maintains the integrity of existing inbound links from external sites.
We were also able to increase the page loading speeds—another important factor that can affect search rankings. Our curated suite of WordPress plugins includes optimisation tools to compress images and other assets, cache frequently requested files and serve bulky assets over a high speed content delivery network.
As our services have developed, so have the needs of our website. Duncan was able to quickly adapt to what we need and came up with a lot of brilliant ideas to increase our rankings alongside creating our specific design. I would definitely recommend Art & Soul.
